Hasta la fecha se conocen nueve especies de <em>Trapania<\/em> distribuidas a lo largo de las costas templadas del Oc\u00e9ano Atl\u00e1ntico oriental y del Mar Mediterr\u00e1neo: <em>Trapania fusca<\/em>, <em>Trapania graeffei<\/em>, <em>Trapania hispalensis<\/em>, <em>Trapania lineata<\/em>, <em>Trapania maculata<\/em>, <em>Trapania orteai<\/em>, <em>Trapania pallida<\/em>, <em>Trapania sanctipetrensis<\/em> y <em>Trapania tartanella<\/em>. Sin embargo, la validez de algunas de estas especies es problem\u00e1tica debido a determinadas caracter\u00edsticas taxon\u00f3micas inciertas utilizadas para su diferenciaci\u00f3n.<\/p>\n<p>El g\u00e9nero <em>Trapania<\/em> tiene una morfolog\u00eda externa muy uniforme y una anatom\u00eda interna muy similar. En consecuencia, los rasgos m\u00e1s utilizados para diferenciar especies han sido el patr\u00f3n de color del cuerpo y la morfolog\u00eda de la r\u00e1dula, y ya hist\u00f3ricamente se habia producido cierto debate sobre la pertenencia a una especie u otra por la comparaci\u00f3n de la morfolog\u00eda de diferentes especies, complic\u00e1ndose el tema por la poca disponibilidad de muestras y la comparaci\u00f3n entre espec\u00edmenes juveniles con adultos.<\/p>\n<p>En el presente trabajo los autores realizan una revisi\u00f3n morfol\u00f3gica y molecular de las especies del g\u00e9nero <em>Trapania<\/em> presentes en el Atl\u00e1ntico nororiental y el Mediterr\u00e1neo. Los an\u00e1lisis morfol\u00f3gicos incluyen disecciones y fotograf\u00edas realizadas con microscopio electr\u00f3nico de barrido de las r\u00e1dulas, cut\u00edculas labiales y penes, mientras que los trabajos moleculares incluyen el an\u00e1lisis filogen\u00e9tico, la delimitaci\u00f3n de especies y estudios de redes de haplotipos.<\/p>\n<p>Los resultados obtenidos ponen en duda las caracter\u00edsticas taxon\u00f3micas utilizadas hasta ahora, lo que sugiere que se ha sobrestimado la riqueza de especies del Atl\u00e1ntico nororiental y del Mediterr\u00e1neo.<\/p>\n<p><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" data-attachment-id=\"4164\" data-permalink=\"https:\/\/vidamarina.info\/?attachment_id=4164\" data-orig-file=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/vidamarina.info\/wp-content\/uploads\/trapania.jpg?fit=850%2C728&amp;ssl=1\" data-orig-size=\"850,728\" data-comments-opened=\"1\" data-image-title=\"Relaciones filogen\u00e9ticas de las especies de Trapania basadas en los genes COI, 16S y H3. As\u00edmismo demuestran que <em>T. hispalensis<\/em>, <em>T. lineata<\/em> y <em>T. pallida<\/em> pertenecen a los mismos taxones, con <em>T. lineata<\/em> como sin\u00f3nimo principal al que se adscribir\u00edan los ejemplares de estas 3 especies. La validez de las especies <em>T. fusca<\/em>, <em>T. graeffei<\/em>, <em>T. sanctipentrensis<\/em> y <em>T. tartanella<\/em> queda pendiente de futuros estudios en los que se proceda a la secuenciaci\u00f3n de espec\u00edmenes procedentes de la localidad tipo de cada especie.<\/p>\n<p>Este trabajo ha contado con la colaboraci\u00f3n de miembros de VIMAR, que ha proporcionado algunos de los ejemplares utilizados en el estudio.
